NAC is a more stable form of L-Cysteine because it has an acetyl group (CH3CO) attached. NAC has all the properties of L-Cysteine but is more water soluble and said to be more bioavailable than L-Cysteine. NAC may be the most cost effective way to boost Glutathione levels in the body. Jo Mar's NAC is 100% pure U.S.P. grade. None of the forms of Cysteine are very palatable and the taste is extremely sour. The powder weighs about 3.6 grams per level measuring teaspoon. Capsules may contain less than 1% magnesium stearate, an inert ingredient used in the encapsulation process. An adequate supply of Vitamin C and B6 should always accompany any NAC or Cysteine supplementation.
